Job description

FINISHING MANAGER

Salary up to $85,000 + Benefits + Paid Relocation to Southern US

Are you a hands-on Finishing Manager or Supervisor with a strong background in wood furniture, cabinetry or millwork? Are you ready for an opportunity where you can take ownership of a finishing department, improve the operation and make your mark?

This is an opportunity to join an established manufacturer that is looking for a strong finishing leader to help transform and improve its finishing department. You'll have the opportunity to evaluate current processes, develop your team, improve quality and efficiency, and put your experience to work building a finishing operation you can be proud of.

We are looking for someone who knows wood finishing - stains, sealers, paints, lacquers and specialty coatings - and understands that attention to detail throughout the prep, application and curing process is critical to producing a quality finished product.

As the Finishing Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the daily operations of the finishing department including preparation, application and curing processes.
  • Manage workflow and finishing schedules to meet production requirements while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Train, develop and supervise finishing employees on proper techniques, equipment operation and material handling.
  • Ensure proper mixing, matching and application of stains, sealers, paints, lacquers and specialty coatings on wood products.
  • Monitor finishing processes, conduct quality inspections and address defects, inconsistencies and rework.
  • Drive improvements in finishing quality, productivity, efficiency and cost.
  • Ensure proper operation of spray booths, HVLP equipment, sanding tools and curing systems.

Minimum qualifications for this Finishing Manager position:

  • At least 5 years of wood finishing, furniture, cabinetry or millwork manufacturing experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a finishing environment (can be in the 5 years of experience).
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of wood finishing materials, processes and equipment.
  • Experience with water-based, solvent-based and specialty coatings.
  • Knowledge of spray finishing, surface preparation and curing processes.
