Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. This position is based in Atlanta, GA.
Position Overview:
The Sander is responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of materials, typically metal or wood, to prepare them for further processing or final use. This role involves operating a variety of sanding tools and equipment to ensure the desired finish and quality of products. The Sander works closely with other production team members to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
  • Operate sanding equipment (e.g., belt sanders, disc sanders) to smooth surfaces of products.
  • Inspect materials for defects or imperfections before and after sanding to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Adjust sanding tools and machinery to achieve the appropriate level of finish and smoothness.
  • Follow specific work orders and blueprints to complete sanding tasks as per specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following proper safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Assist in the setup and calibration of sanding machines for different projects.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the sanding process to ensure high-quality output.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Heavy lifting is a requirement.
  • Prolonged standing and repetitive motion in a production setting.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here must be met in order for an employee to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must be able to stand for 8-10 hours per shift. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20-25 lbs. at least once an hour. Must be able to bend and stoop several times per hour in order to place finished goods on pallets for storage or shipment. Must be able to continuously use hands and fingers in order to handle small objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, depth perception and adjusting focus.
Work Environment:
While performing this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, dust and airborne particles. The noise level is moderate to noisy. Safety glasses are required while on the plant floor.
