POSITION OVERVIEW:
AE Works is seeking a talented Construction Coordinator with deep professional experience to join our team. At AE Works, you will be responsible for owning the successful administration of contract documents by managing and executing the A/E design duties for varied construction projects, including assembling and directing responses to contractors and owner inquiries during the build phase (Construction Administration).

LOCATION:
Arlington, VA or Pittsburgh, PA with travel to client and project sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Project Planning & Execution: Represent the A/E design role during owner-architect-contractor meetings, including progress observations, punchlists, creating and maintaining relevant construction phase reports, and completing construction schedule reviews and reviewing contractor change order requests.
  • Technical Documentation: Apply working judgement, based on the appropriate delivery method, when conflicts with the contract documents arise in paperwork and/or in the field to facilitate cooperative solutions on behalf of the owner and in coordination with the contractor.
  • Quality Assurance: Executes constructability reviews of projects in both design and, as needed to evaluate construction issues, during the build phase. Review construction progress in terms of risk, schedule, budget, quality, as well as facilitating conversations and coordination with design professionals during the build.
  • Continuous Improvements: Owns AE Works' construction administration activities and maintains knowledge of construction industry trends to support projects and advise teams and clients.
  • Team Collaboration: Spearhead resolution of construction issues and strategically engage the A/E design team as needed to bring items to resolution with the owner and contractor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
What's Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or Business is highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience working on building construction projects as a construction coordinator, construction manager, owner's representative, or similar.
  • Work experience for commercial and industrial building projects in the areas of federal, healthcare, senior care, higher education, commercial, public safety, and/or local governmental projects.
  • Work experience organizing, managing, and directly conducting construction reviews of items such as submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change orders and the like, conferring with the design professional if needed, and addressing difficult items directly with the Owner and contractor.
  • Ability to understand and administer construction reviews for Site/Civil, Architecture, Architectural Interiors, Plumbing/Fire Protection, Mechanical, and Electrical/Systems.
  • Ability to review and update construction schedules, as well as prioritize reviews of the critical path.

  • Proficient documenting construction progress using Microsoft Excel, Construction Management software, such as Procore, eBuilder and related programs, scheduling software, and familiarity with construction costs and/or consultation with a contractor in response to change order request reviews and pay applications, as relevant.
  • Skilled at using cloud based and mobile technology for collaboration.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to build relationships with clients and peers; articulate and confident in both written and verbal communication.
