Job description

General Job Description:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, will provide vision, oversight, direction, and leadership to the Hydronic Virtual Construction team through shared vision and clear communication that holds everyone accountable to company goals. You will oversee all the operational aspects of your assigned Virtual Construction team and facilitate the workforce and resources needed to ensure each project is constructed safely and following design, quality, budget, and schedule requirements. The position will provide a rewarding work environment with opportunities of growth for team members and maintain an environment which will produce increased involvement, cooperation, and teamwork, thereby increasing output and overall operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee Hydronic Virtual Construction leadership and detailers in your assigned area to ensure standards and processes are aligned to achieve consistent predictable outputs that are in line with company goals and standards.
  • Foster a support mentality within the group such that everything done within the Virtual Construction team is to facilitate a more efficient installation of the project at a higher level of quality than if the project hadn't utilized the Virtual Construction team.

Operations

  • Assist direct reports with
    • Resource management
    • Assignment of project lead positions
    • Proper team assignment for all projects
    • Execution strategies for assigned projects
    • Resolution of issues, challenges and obstacles
    • Understanding and execution of QA/QC protocols
    • Understanding and ensuring compliance to applicable Building and Mechanical codes
  • Assist Operations Manager in the creation, modification, and alignment of standard processes to sustain "Best Practices" in the industry across all locations and regions to ensure they are aligned and have the ability to be self sufficient
  • Conduct and/or participate in regular departmental meetings
  • Evaluate and advise on means and methods of continuous improvement within the Virtual Construction group to increase efficiency, improve quality, and lower operating costs to meet project goals
  • Provide input to Operations Manager and Sales Leadership on resource availability and project labor budgeting
  • Evaluate and recommend modifications and enhancements to the companies BIM execution plan and SOP to support the most efficient fabrication and installation possible
  • Monitor and advise on quality control measures to ensure high-quality output at or above industry standards
  • Coordinate with the Construction Technology, Engineering and Construction Operations leadership teams to identify areas of improvement to support optimal collaboration across the company to facilitate improvements in design, fabrication, and installation practices on projects
  • Coordinate with the Training team to develop and deploy training materials necessary to support the growth and development of the Virtual Construction team
  • Assist Operation Manager with departmental budget and financial planning
  • Advise on modifications and maintenance of submittal standards library
  • Assist Regional Sales Leadership with strategic pursuits
  • Prepare for and attend project pursuit interviews/presentations as needed
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or upper management

Strategic Planning

  • Understand and support the strategic plan and corporate vision
  • Continual development and implementation of processes and procedures to achieve high level quality, productivity and efficiency within the Virtual Construction team and the overall job installation.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with virtual construction operations (ie: equipment procurement, personnel shortages, workstation availability, document control)
  • Identify, advise and assist in implementation of good employee retention practices to help guard against poaching and employee discontent.

Personnel Management

  • Adhere to and promote company policies
  • Instill a culture of accountability, integrity, ethics, and respect within the department
  • Recruit, train, develop, and mentor leaders across the Virtual Construction Group to ensure culture, values, and standards are met consistently including succession planning to avoid any gaps in strong leadership
  • Evaluate and advise on the group structure and training needs to facilitate growth and expansion into new markets.

Collaboration

  • Create and foster collaborative relationships among leadership teams across varying departments and locations
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects to meet company growth objectives
  • Work closely with Regional Sales Leadership and other Virtual Construction Leaders on best practices and solutions to meet customer needs
  • Work closely with field and fabrication leadership to ensure project schedules are met and operating costs are minimized.

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of experience working with, leading others in, and collaborating on improvements to technology and business processes
  • Bachelor's degree Business, Technology or related field and/or at least 10 years of experience as a detailer
  • Experience with the various business and corporate software technologies ACCO currently utilizes
    • MS Office: Word, Excel, Project
    • Google Workspace: Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Forms
    • Others: Adobe, ProCore, Bluebeam, Box
    • CRM/PM Platforms: Bidtracer
    • Collaboration: Smartsheet, Slack, Revitzio, PlanGrid
    • Design/Detailing: Autodesk AEC Collection (Revit, AutoCAD, Assemble, Navisworks),

  • Proficient in English.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications

Additional Skills/Abilities Preferred, but Not Required:

  • Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • Experience in remote training software and technologies used within best-in-class organizations
  • Experience leading technical teams in the execution of problem solving
  • Experience with all of the aforementioned existing ACCO software
  • Proficient in Spanish
