Job description

What if your next accounting job was actually about building the future of accounting?

At F&F Properties, we're not looking for someone to keep the books exactly the way they've always been kept. We're looking for an Accounting Manager who sees AI and automation not as a threat - but as the most exciting toolkit they've ever had access to.

This role gives you real ownership: of the accounting engine, of a growing virtual assistant team, and of redesigning how financial work gets done using cutting-edge AI and agentic tools. You'll free up senior leadership for strategy while you build something better, faster, and smarter from the ground up.

  Why This Role Is Different

  Build, don't just maintain.

Use AI tools to genuinely redesign how accounting works.

Manage and develop a virtual assistant team.

Join a fast-growing real estate company at a pivotal moment.

  What You'll Actually Do

Own the Daily Accounting Engine

Run AP, AR, and GL - and deliver accurate financial statements on time across multiple property and corporate entities.

Drive a tight month-end close. No one likes a late close. You won't let it happen.

Manage all account and bank reconciliations, invoice coding, vendor setup, and insurance requirements.

Own the tax submission process - coordinate with the external CPA, maintain the calendar, and prep year-end schedules.

Support cash management, loan covenant reporting, and investor distributions.

Work with the Senior Finance Director to implement new workflow automation and improve efficiency.

Lead the Team & Build Smarter Systems

Manage and develop the virtual assistant team - starting with an AP specialist now ramping up - with clear productivity metrics and a relentless focus on improvement.

Use AI and agentic tools to redesign how the accounting function works. This is the most exciting part of the job. Make it count.

Create clear, simple, scalable systems that support F&F's growth.

Partner Across the Business

Collaborate closely with Asset Management, Construction, and Property Operations.

Support lender funding of construction projects - documentation, retainage true-ups, timely payments.

Monitor budget performance and surface analysis that drives better management decisions.

Requirements

  Who You Are

The single most important thing: you're genuinely excited about AI. Not just curious about it - you've already been poking at it, testing it, finding ways to make your work better. That mindset is non-negotiable.

The basics:

5+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close and multi-entity work.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Advanced Microsoft 365 / Excel skills - you turn messy data into clear insights fast.

Strong grasp of financial reporting best practices and accounting systems. Appfolio experience is a bonus.

CPA is a plus, but not required. Real estate experience is a plus, but not required.

The stuff that really sets you apart:

Ownership mentality - you take responsibility and drive things to completion.

Comfortable with ambiguity and an entrepreneurial pace. You don't need a perfect playbook.

A continuous-improvement mindset - you always think "how could this be better?"

Strong communicator who can influence across departments.

Can manage, coach, and develop a virtual team, delegate effectively, and prioritize ruthlessly.

"Can do" attitude. It sounds cliche. We mean it.

Benefits

  About F&F Properties

F&F Properties is a fast-growing multi-family owner/operator at the stage where the right systems and the right people make all the difference. We believe in building lean, smart, scalable operations - and we're looking for people who want to be part of building something, not just maintaining it.

  What We Offer

Competitive bonus opportunity

Medical, dental & vision coverage

401(k) with company match - we invest in your future, not just your present.

Exclusive property discount - discounted living at F&F-owned properties. Live where you work (literally).

2 weeks PTO (accrued) - with room to grow as you do.

Ready to build the future of accounting?

Apply now - we're moving fast. Salary: $130,000 - $145,000 + bonus opportunity. Target start is late July 2026.
