Overview

Topco Associates is currently seeking a Financial Analyst for the Finance team in Itasca, IL. This position will be a hybrid role, with the successful candidate conducting work in our Itasca office three times per week and virtually twice per week.

This position is responsible for financial support of the Pharmacy Program at Topco, including but not limited to the annual budgeting process, monthly financial forecasting, and the delivery of ad-hoc reporting. The successful individual will partner with the business to help ensure financial reporting is understood, provide insights and recommendations to aid in decision making, and advise stakeholders regarding key sourcing decisions and their financial impacts on the program P&L.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze and track Pharmacy sales, purchases, and rebates; completely understand how these elements are reflected in Topco's financial statements.
  • Develop the annual Pharmacy Program Budget and Monthly Financial Forecasts
  • Provide variance analysis, ad-hoc analysis, and determine key financial drivers behind performance
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • This role requires technical acumen to mine and synthesize data from multiple sources, build complex financial models, and create a cohesive analysis appropriate for executive level review
  • This role requires the ability to report and present complex results to senior management in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to develop and communicate financial models for new business lines, channel optimization, and evolving market dynamics driven by economic and regulatory changes.
  • Motivated, organized self-starter who is comfortable working directly and proactively with key business stakeholders
  • PERFORMANCE EVALUATION CRITERIA:

    • Accurate, complete, and consistent financial information reported on a timely basis, in accordance with established requirements and deadlines
    • Continuous assessment and development of departmental reports, dashboards, analysis, and processes; suggest and implement process improvements and automation
    • Ability to understand, model, and convey complex information to key stakeholders in a simple, understandable manner
    • Effective collaboration with multiple departments and levels in the organization
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Qualifications

    Education:

    Four-year college degree preferred in Economics, Finance, or Accounting

    Technical skills:

    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to recognize trends
    • Ability to synthesize, cleanse, and analyze data from multiple sources
    • Knowledge and understanding of relational databases (structure, tables, joins, queries), especially SQL
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
    • Tableau, Salesforce, Power BI, SAP, SAP BW, SAP BI, SAP Business Objects, SAP Hana, or SAP BPC experience a plus
    • Understanding of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

    Previous experience:

    • 2-5 years of professional experience
