Position Summary
The Financial Controller oversees most aspects of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation, including coordination of month-end close operations and financial audits. This position is also responsible for tax compliance and treasury operations. The Financial Controller leverages both technical expertise and leadership capabilities to support the company's financial stability, operational efficiency, and long-term growth.
Job Duties
  • Compiles and prepares financial reports, such as balance sheets, income reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Leads the month-end financial close process, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Reviews and prepares general ledger account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records; follows up and corrects any inconsistencies.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and prepares journal entries for miscellaneous accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, cost allocations, and other expenses.
  • Coordinates and leads the annual audit process, collaborating with external auditors and the finance team.
  • Ensures compliance with all financial regulations and standards to ensure that the general ledger is accurate.
  • Oversees tax compliance for federal and state income tax by coordinating with external tax accountants.
  • Manages the tax preparation schedules and tax compliance for various state and local taxes.
  • Prepares quarterly federal excise tax return, maximizing decreasing adjustments for non-taxable components and freight deductions.
  • Manages treasury processes including account maintenance, wires, ACH, cash forecasts, and preparation of cash reconciliations.
  • Supports special projects and works with plant operations staff as necessary.
  • Supports the Finance team by performing other duties on an as needed basis.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or relevant field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of seven years of accounting experience (i.e., general ledger, tax, treasury, cash) is required. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
