About the Team

Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.


About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment:
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job

The Role: As a Financial Analyst, you’ll be a key player in supporting our financial team. You’ll assist with budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to important financial decisions. This role is designed for someone who is enthusiastic about learning and eager to grow within the finance field.

 

What You’ll Do:

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support the completion of close-related tasks such as journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Help build and maintain financial models to analyze data and generate insights.

Business Support:

  • Collaborate with team members and assist in data analysis for business reviews and reports.
  • Identify and communicate key trends and variances to help address performance issues and opportunities.
  • Work closely with various departments to support financial queries and provide data-driven insights.

Project Assistance:

  • Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed.
  • Provide support to senior team members on key initiatives and projects.
  • Learn and grow in areas such as data analysis tools and financial software.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related analytical role, or relevant internships.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with financial software.
  • Ability to work with and analyze data, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong analytical skills and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to present data clearly.
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving and supporting financial processes.
