Purpose of Position
In consultation with UT System and institutional leadership, responsible for the development, implementation, and direction of an innovative and sustainable Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program for the UT System, System Administration, and to provide expertise and consultative services for UT institution ERM programs and facilitating a broader systemwide ERM strategy.
Essential Functions
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders on program structure, scope, priorities, and governance.
  • Facilitate internal ERM workshops.
  • Develop program reporting structure, content, and dashboard.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement risk management policies and strategies.
  • Periodically present to stakeholders including executive leadership and the Board of Regents.
  • Provide consultative services to UT institutions related to Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Identify, monitor, assess and communicate emerging risks.
  • Develop and conduct applicable training.
  • Conduct or assist with risk assessments.
  • Provide strategic insights into risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support integration of risk considerations into business decisions and major initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of key governance, risk, and compliance concepts relating to enterprise risk and related guidance;
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk frameworks such as COSO ERM or ISO 31000;
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and maintain focus on multiple tasks while working in a team environment with a diverse set of stakeholders;
  • Aptitude for identifying and interpreting enterprise risks and mitigating controls including emerging risks, key risks, performance indicators, and root cause analysis;
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the UT System and institutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher Education or Health Care experience
  • Associate in Risk Management - ERM or similar certification

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.
