Job Description

We're hiring a Team Leader, Financial Reporting to join our Self-Funded Financial Reporting team. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for analyzing and evaluating the financial performance of Self-Funded (ASO) health plans and stop loss performance.
As the Team Leader, Financial Reporting, you will oversee and support complex initiatives to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and related analysis for the Self-Funded business. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements across the reporting lifecycle.
This position also serves as a critical liaison across the organization. You will represent the Self-Funded Financial Reporting team on enterprise-wide projects as a technical resource and subject matter expert, while acting as the primary point of contact for Sales & Marketing on Self-Funded group matters-partnering closely to resolve issues and support business needs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of analysis and reporting for financial information used in monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reporting including historical and/or forecasted financial information:

    • Review and approve financial plans, financial forecasts, profitability impacts & competitive analysis, and various reports to better track profitability

    • Drive the preparation of financial and business-related analysis and research.

    • Oversee the development of budgets for the department based on actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, expense reports and other factors.

  • Serve as the lead business partner to Sales & Marketing on self-funded group matters; serve as a subject matter experts on self-funded billing/collection/invoicing issues.

  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and recommend process enhancements to management.

  • Review, approve, and support the creation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting for use by senior leadership, the Board of Trustees, the BCBS Association; ensure such reporting is accurate and make presentations to management as needed.

  • Respond quickly and accurately to escalated issues from internal and external clients and customers.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

  • 5+ years of experience in related field.

  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Bonus Points

  • Previous leadership experience (formal or informal), including coaching/mentoring, workflow oversight, or leading process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience partnering with Sales/Account Management/ Underwriting and handling escalations for large group customers.

  • Experience leading through change (process redesign, system/portal transitions, new controls, communications).

Salary Range
