Job description

We are looking for a talented Regional Pension Investment Manager to join our team specializing in Finance for Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Drive accurate and efficient pension asset operations by managing daily investment activities, reconciliations, fund transfers, reporting, and payment processes to ensure smooth plan administration. 
  • Provide critical financial insights through complex analysis of pension assets and liabilities, helping support informed investment and funding decisions. 
  • Lead investment transition activities during manager or strategy changes, ensuring seamless movement of assets while minimizing operational and market risk. 
  • Strengthen the financial stability of the pension plan by actively managing liquidity needs and coordinating funding activities with Treasury Operations. 
  • Help protect the organization from regulatory and compliance risk by maintaining expertise in pension funding requirements, local regulations, SOX controls, and audit reporting standards. 
  • Improve operational effectiveness by identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, transparency, and governance across pension management activities. 
  • Influence strategic pension decisions by partnering closely with investment advisors, consultants, legal counsel, and committees to monitor funding levels, investment performance, and contractual agreements. 
  • Deliver high-value regional support by leading projects, providing funded status updates to leadership committees, and making recommendations that support long-term pension and investment strategy.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Actuarial Sciences, Finance, or related subject required.
  • Successfully complete all certifications that may be required in local jurisdiction for level of position and responsibilities held.

Experience:

Significant experience required, including supervisory experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a strong understanding of benefits issues and the regulatory environment for employee and executive benefits including solid knowledge of ERISA and related DOL and IRS regulations, including SECURE Acts and the ability to understand the implementation and compliance impacts on the benefit plans
  • Manages strong relationships with custodian banks, investment managers, actuaries, record keepers and consultants
  • Partners with business units and other corporate functions to drive benefits strategy, communication and delivery of benefits programs
  • Drives continuous process improvements to improve benefits reporting and mitigate benefit risks throughout the organization
  • Supports monthly and periodic reporting to Corporate Accounting and Treasury Middle Office
  • Supports Risk Insurance and broker, Gallagher, throughout the year on the global fiduciary risk program - prepares presentation to underwriters for annual renewal and provide information and updates throughout the year
  • Manages all aspects of the funding and investment of the assets/insurance policies related to the U.S. Non-Qualified plans. Interacts and coordinates all activities with and between Empower/MTBG, insurers, investment consultants, custodians, actuaries, Corporate Accounting and CBS. Organizes and leads annual meeting with stakeholders. Works with CBS on cash flow forecasting and with consultants on investment monitoring, portfolio rebalancing, funded status analysis and asset/liability analysis. Responsible for compliance with investment policy and maintaining the policy.
  • Manages annual PwC corporate audit process and required SOx testing
  • Manages annual plan audits for U.S. DB and DC Plans

  • Build strong vendor management skills to ensure outsourced benefit plan providers deliver compliant, high-quality service and positive member experiences.
  • Develop advanced financial analysis capabilities to identify trends, assess risk, resolve variances, and provide actionable insights that support business decisions.
  • Strengthen your understanding of financial exposure and risk management strategies to help mitigate market volatility and protect pension plan performance.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of pension, accounting, tax, and financial regulations to ensure compliance and effectively guide stakeholders through complex requirements.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and effectively by delivering accurate reporting, summarizing key findings, and partnering with stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.
