Job Summary
Incumbents perform professional accounting and finance duties to ensure data accuracy, effective accounting controls, and compliance with District policies and State statutes.
Essential Functions
- Supervises staff responsible for daily operational accounting activities, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and managing hiring, disciplinary, and termination processes.
- Manages assigned accounting or finance functions, to include those related to general ledger, internal and external audits, and related activities.
- Prepares and/or maintains accurate general, financial, and statistical records, reports, work papers and schedules, letters, and other documentation; work may also involve working with and updating databases and online systems, researching and analyzing information, and making recommendations based on findings.
- Assists with the annual audit by preparing, gathering, and clarifying requested documentation; responding to auditor inquiries; researching discrepancies; and initiating corrective actions to ensure compliance.
- Manages daily financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in accounts payable/receivable.
- Maintains the Accounting department's InfoEx internal webpage, including updating forms and related content.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to provide information, resolve complex issues, and support effective departmental operations.
- Create, enhance, and maintain the procedures which include a complete range of policies, procedures, best practices, tools, forms, and job-aids to efficiently and effectively support project operations for all functions (finance, accounting).
- Monitors and ensures compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
- Manages the internal control environment by strategically integrating automated financial platforms and cloud-based expense technologies
- Additional duties - Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related area
- Three () to four (4) years of experience in accounting/finance support or related area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Banner (Ellucian) ERP
- Experience in higher education accounting
- Experience working in complex or matrixed organizations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, keyboarding, holding, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
