This is a hybrid, but local position, as it will require on-site work/meeting weekly.

Position is restricted to UUHC Finance and Accounting Office. This position is responsible for querying and analyzing large data sets, refining and optimizing reporting solutions, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and execute long-term strategies aligned with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, experience converting large amounts of data into consumer-friendly reports, excellent problem solving and communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering actionable insights to support informed decision-making and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply creativity to data analytics.
  • Queries and analyzes large data sets and develops and validates user-friendly reports.
  • Facilitates strategic decision-making processes by providing insights on planning, policy development, work methodologies, procedural enhancements, resource utilization, organizational structuring, assignment distribution, and information management.
  • Conducts comprehensive program and operations research and analysis with a focus on financial metrics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Designs and develops customized reports tailored to meet specific financial analysis and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborates closely with stakeholders and departments to gather and synthesize financial data along with business requirements, ensuring alignment of reporting objectives with actionable data.
  • Provides expert support for the optimization and maintenance of all financial systems integral to operational reporting and efficiency.
  • Contributes to the University of Utah Health's short and long-range financial planning cycle through data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Transforms complex business challenges into actionable technical solutions, bridging the gap between business needs and technological capabilities.
  • Conducts in-depth analyses and audits on financial data, patient-level financial metrics, and other statistical indicators to drive financial performance improvements.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, a related field, or the equivalent experience.
  • Four years of progressively more responsible financial management analyst experience.
  • Experience conducting data analysis using relational databases.
  • Experience in using reporting software packages including: Excel,SQL,Tableau, Python, etc.

Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with cost accounting and other cost allocation methodologies.
  • Database design experience.
