Overview
The Strategic Financial Analyst provides analytical and strategic support directly to the President & CEO and CFO of a multi-family real estate investment company. This role serves as a key resource across investments, capital markets, portfolio management, and executive reporting. The ideal candidate brings 2-3 years of experience from an accounting firm or financial services environment, combined with deep proficiency in financial modeling and a strong command of AI and technology tools that enhance speed and accuracy in analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA track or CFA candidacy a plus
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience at a public accounting firm, investment bank, financial services firm, or real estate investment company
  • Prior exposure to real estate, private equity, or multi-family investment structures strongly preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license and annually provide proof of auto insurance
Technical Skills
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required: complex financial modeling, dynamic proformas, sensitivity tables, and scenario analysis
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to improve analytical workflows, automate reporting, and surface insights
  • Proficiency with financial software and platforms (Yardi, Argus, or similar real estate platforms a plus)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) preferred

Responsibilities
Executive & Strategic Support
  • Serve as a direct analytical resource to the President & CEO and CFO, preparing reports, models, and presentations that support strategic decision-making
  • Prepare and maintain executive dashboards, performance summaries, and board/investor reporting packages
  • Research macroeconomic trends, capital markets conditions, and multi-family real estate dynamics to inform leadership decisions
  • Anticipate information needs of senior leadership and proactively deliver analysis without being asked

Investment Analysis & Underwriting
  • Develop and maintain underwriting proformas for new acquisitions and development opportunities, including validation of assumptions with Property Management, Development, and Construction teams
  • Conduct market and demographic research for new developments, potential acquisitions, current assets, and projects under construction
  • Analyze and model capital stack optimization, financing structures, and return profiles
  • Research, analyze, and present recommendations on stabilized, value-add, and development assets
  • Track property-level metrics against business plan budgets, acquisition proformas, and renovation return-on-cost goals; identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Maintain asset tracking schedules for construction, lease-up, and value-add renovation projects

Portfolio Management & Capital Markets
  • Perform portfolio analytics and data management, monitoring performance across the full investment portfolio
  • Build and maintain portfolio models, reforecasts, hold/sell analyses, and IRR/equity multiple tracking
  • Prepare financing packages, investor reports, and fundraising materials for debt and equity transactions
  • Support debt management processes including closing coordination, ongoing compliance monitoring, and refinancing analysis
  • Assist with portfolio operations including compliance, valuations, reporting, and other tasks as needed
  • Coordinate with real estate tax consultants on tax assessment strategies and appeals
  • Maintain and update investor and lender CRM databases and data rooms

Technology & Process Innovation
  • Champion the use of AI and automation tools to streamline financial analysis, reporting, and data management workflows
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to reduce manual effort, improve reporting accuracy, and accelerate turnaround times
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new financial software or platforms that enhance team capabilities
  • Develop and maintain underwriting proformas for new acquisitions and development opportunities, including validation of assumptions with Property Management, Development, and Construction teams

General
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Development, Acquisitions, Asset Management, Property Management, and Capital Markets teams
  • Deliver high-quality results across multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines
  • Maintain a client-oriented perspective ensuring all data, metrics, and analyses are accurate and consistent across deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and guidelines in all communications and work product
  • Travel as needed for market evaluations, due diligence, and portfolio site visits
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor
