Summary:
The Market Analyst supports important aspects of financial analysis related to clients' group benefit programs. The Market Analyst works collaboratively with Account Manager(s) and Benefits Consultant(s), who will direct client deliverables. The Market Analyst may attend some client meetings to present financial analysis and observations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Drafts accurate exhibits for quarterly and annual client meetings
  • May assist the Benefit Consultant with carrier negotiation process
  • May mentor junior team members
  • Drafts monthly reporting deliverables for clients.
  • Reviews client utilization reports using various reporting methods (i.e. carrier data, analytics platforms such as Springbuk)
  • Drafts cost projections for renewals and benefit plan offerings.
  • Calculate Actuarial Values to price out plan design changes requested by the client team
  • Drafts Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserves analysis
  • May assist with contribution analysis
  • Analyzes industry benchmarks and drafts information for the client to show their competitiveness in the industry.
  • Develops working relationships with carrier partners
  • Maintains accurate, current, organized, and complete market information in internal databases
  • Assists team and clients as necessary with special projects

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
  • Ability to analyze data and recognize analytical patterns
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple and changing client priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to effectively present data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment

Education, Training and Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree, required; Business, Finance, Math, Accounting or related field, preferred
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, required
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, required;
  • Experience in the healthcare industry working for a group insurance carrier, broker or consultant, preferred
  • Knowledge of group insurance including medical, dental, CDHP, pharmacy, life and disability products, preferred
  • Experience with database applications, a plus.

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $75,000 to $85,000 per year.
Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company's performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs. You will receive reimbursement of job-related expenses per the company policy and may receive employee perks and discounts.
