Job description

Financial Management Associate
As an associate in the Early Talent Financial Management Program (FMP), you will be tasked with applying advanced academic knowledge, skills, and experience to solve complex finance, accounting and treasury challenges for a mission driven financial services organization. This two-year rotational program provides professionals with exposure to up to four financial disciplines within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). Each assignment will be in different areas of the Finance, Accounting, and Treasury group, offering exposure to a breadth of experiences related to the Bank's finances and operations. In addition, this role provides unique networking opportunities, access to senior leadership, and ongoing personal and professional developmental opportunities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Analyzes, interprets, and provides insight on financial data to support various business objectives. Examples may include the evaluation of financial performance relative to historical trends and budget/forecast benchmarks; review and analysis of general ledger details to ensure accuracy and identify variance drivers; FX hedge analysis, etc.
  • Independently prepares and generates financial reports. Examples may include monthly one-time cost expense reports, Quarterly Repricing and Maturing Balance reports, GAP, EVE, Static EaR reporting, and other ad hoc department reports. May also assist with monthly and quarterly board financial reports for distribution to executive leadership and investors.
  • Applies advanced accounting principles to evaluate, reconcile, and validate general ledger journal activity during the closing process to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
  • Designs finance planning models for forecasting and expense management. Conducts other modeling activities such as building, enhancing and testing the modeling features within the Empyrean system, headcount/staffing expense modeling, etc.
  • Analyzes investment security portfolio performance and assesses potential investment opportunities in the market.
  • Applies advanced academic knowledge, professional standards and care, skills and experience to solve complex financial challenges. _x000d__x000d_
  • Conducts peer Bank research and presents findings and analytical insights to management (including review of earnings calls, financial statements, and market commentary, etc.).
  • Independently prepares and delivers presentations on various financial topics to business leaders.
  • Actively participates during weekly FMP team meetings.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; specialized university-level coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business and/or Mathematics Preferred
