Job description

Loan Surveillance Intern

CW Financial Services LLC ("CW") is a premier and unique, full-service real-estate firm providing solutions to institutional clients in the areas of Commercial Real Estate Finance. CW is recognized industry-wide for providing the most sophisticated capital markets structuring techniques.

As a Loan Surveillance Intern, you will work with the asset management and surveillance teams to provide analytical support and assist in reviewing the credit risk of securitized pools of commercial mortgages at the individual asset and loan level. You will partake in weekly training sessions led by industry experts, receive mentorship from our experienced team of asset managers, and gain hands-on experience through analytical assignments that apply real estate and finance principles in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to interact with real estate professionals nationwide.

Duties/Responsibilities:

You will participate in a program that allows you to see all facets of CW and will provide support to asset managers responsible for the monitoring of credit risk on pools of commercial mortgage-backed securities, including agency debt. Specific duties include:

  • Excel modeling and analysis of property cash flows across all commercial real estate asset classes and types.
  • Supporting loan surveillance, including credit risk determinations, watchlist analysis, and loan-level research.
  • Analyzing rent rolls, operating statements, and third-party reports.
  • Working with large loan-level data sets to support risk determination and portfolio analytics.
  • Using AI tools to streamline surveillance workflows and reporting.
  • Identifying and presenting loans of concern to the surveillance team.
  • Performing market-level research using internal and third-party databases and existing broker relationships.
  • Assisting with underwriting real estate and commercial loans.
  • Participating in broker and client calls.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Interest in data analytics and AI tools.

Education and Experience:

  • Seeking a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or a related field.

Program Details:

  • The summer internship begins the first Monday following Labor Day and is in-person, based in our Washington, D.C. office.
  • Interns must be able to work a minimum of 3 days per week
