Job Description

The Senior Market Risk Analyst plays a pivotal role in the modeling, analysis, and reporting of CoBank's balance sheet interest rate risk, with a focus on leading asset and liability management (ALM) risk analysis initiatives that also encompass related risks such as spread risk, liquidity risk, and basis risk. This role provides advanced analytical support, serves as a subject matter expert (SME) across key market risk and ALM processes, and coaches junior analysts. The Senior Market Risk Analyst provides key insights into the drivers of market risk exposure, directly supporting risk oversight and balance sheet management strategies, and contributes to the continual improvement of the market risk management framework.

Essential Functions
  • Serves as the functional owner for key market risk analytical processes supporting core ALM models, leading areas of model development, assumption design, analytical workflows, and risk reporting.
  • Independently applies advanced financial and quantitative modeling techniques to interpret and explain risk behaviors, providing insight into key risk drivers and emerging trends.
  • Coordinates closely with Risk, Treasury, Finance, Risk Data Architecture, and other related teams to support ALM risk analysis initiatives, ensuring effective alignment across data sourcing, modeling, and reporting activities.
  • Prepares and presents market risk reports, analyses and insights for committees, workgroups, and senior management, translating complex analytical results into clear, decision-relevant risk implications.
  • Partners with the Risk Data Architecture team to ensure the integrity and appropriateness of data used in ALM models by applying expertise in key data elements to assess impacts on market risk measures and risk reporting.
  • Drives continual improvement of market risk analytics by leading model enhancements, analytical tools, and documentation, ensuring transparency, consistency, and audit readiness.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for complex adโ€‘hoc market risk analyses and coaches Market Risk Analysts through technical guidance, quality oversight, and knowledge transfer across ALM processes.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math, Physics, Computer Science or other quantitative field required
  • Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
  • CFA charterholder or candidate preferred
Work Experience
  • 5 years of market risk analysis experience, focused on interest rate risk modeling and/or asset liability management required
  • Prior Experience in the finance and banking industry, including but not limited to risk modeling practices and concepts, financial instruments, and financial markets required
  • Prior Experience with data mining, relational databases, and statistical software required
  • Prior Experience with programming languages (Python, VBA, SQL, R, etc.) required
  • Advanced understanding of interest rate risk concepts, fixed income instruments, and financial asset valuation principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise with asset and liability management (ALM) risk models and analytical tools.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $121,000 - $148,900. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.The listed salary, other compensation and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
