The Opportunity: Financial Controller

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to oversee and manage our financial operations. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of our financial records and reports, and will play a key role in developing and implementing financial strategies to drive the company's growth and profitability.

Financial Controller Key Responsibilities

  • As Financial Controller, oversee the company's financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures as Financial Controller to ensure compliance with financial regulations and optimize financial performance.
  • Monitor financial performance and prepare financial reports, analyzing variances and identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow projections to support strategic decision-making.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency in financial processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance and accounting.
  • Support external audits and ensure timely completion of tax filings and other financial obligations.
  • Manage construction prequalifications.
  • Oversee bi-weekly construction and manpower reporting and billing for sub labor.
  • Prepare monthly construction pre-billing reports.
  • Handle year-end W2s, 1099s, and tax preparation.
  • Run the monthly AP check process.
  • Complete month-end accounting rollup for division financials at Kasper Electric.
  • Complete month-end accounting rollup for Kasper Cares.
  • Oversee the bookkeeper.
  • Prepare P&L and cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly executive metrics.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process.
  • Manage job closeouts and recap reporting.
  • Oversee bonding.
  • Manage line of credit renewals and insurance renewals.

Financial Controller Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional certification such as CPA is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, with at least two years of experience in finance as a Financial Controller.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices associated with GAAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings clearly.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting, financial modeling, and forecasting.
  • The ability to lead others toward a desired outcome while fostering a positive attitude.
  • Exposure to the financial aspects of construction projects.
