Emergency Veterinarian – The Regional Veterinary Referral Center

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarian to join our team at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia. The center offers 24/7 emergency and critical care, specialty services in cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, neurology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and rehabilitative medicine, and advanced diagnostic imaging including ultrasound, digital radiography, CT, MRI, and a linear accelerator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient examinations and medical work-ups.
  • Communicate and educate clients about patient care.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including imaging, lab work, and surgery.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and pharmacy duties, including controlled substance protocols.
  • Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations.
  • Evaluate and monitor protocols for hospital operations from intake to discharge.
  • Attend daily rounds to ensure highest standards are upheld.
  • Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution.
  • Current State Veterinary License.
  • DEA registration obtained and maintained.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary emergency practice.
  • Strong diagnostic, surgical, and dental skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
  • Capability to communicate effectively with medical, hospital staff, and clients.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderately demanding tasks.
