Job description

We are currently seeking a motivated Assistant Controller to join our administration department.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our company. This position will involve assisting with financial reporting, budget and cash flow preparation and management, and verification of compliance with accounting standards. Management of accounts payable and accounts receivable personnel.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Support the month-end close process, including reconciliations and posting of journal entries.
  • Oversee and review the weekly cash flow and present to ownership.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve financial performance.
  • Monitor and maintain accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance and the existence of all necessary internal controls being in place and in use.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and assist with cost containment and management.
  • Oversee insurance relationships and help with insurance audits as liaison between companies and brokers.
  • Oversee banking relationships and liaise with financial institutions to facilitate smooth daily banking operations.
  • Assist with annual audits and ensure adherence to necessary accounting standards.
  • Participate in special projects and assist in process improvements as needed.
  • Serve as back up for payroll processing, benefits administration and other HR related tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field. CPA is preferred but not required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to tackle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
