Location: Casa Ybel Resort – Sanibel Island, Florida

Casa Ybel Resort, a premier beachfront destination on beautiful Sanibel Island, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic hospitality team dedicated to excellence, guest satisfaction, and operational integrity.

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the resort, including accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role ensures accurate financial management while supporting strategic decision-making for the property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee internal controls and audit processes.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support business strategy.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Additional Responsibility – IT Manager: Oversee the resort's information technology systems, coordinate with third-party IT vendors, ensure network and system reliability, manage technology-related projects, and provide support for day-to-day hardware, software, and cybersecurity needs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality or resort environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Experience with the following systems is preferred:
    • Asure Central Payroll
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP
    • VisualOne Property Management System (PMS)
    • InfoGenesis Point-of-Sale (POS)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
