Job Title: Engineering Manager - Electrical New Product Development (NPD) Location: Rochester, NY (Onsite) Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent Work Schedule: 9/80 (Employees work 9 days out of 14, with every other Friday off) Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 per annum (Plus comprehensive benefits) Relocation Assistance: Yes, available.
Job Description
About the Role: We are looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented Engineering Manager to lead New Product Development (NPD) and legacy sustainment for our Tactical Communications sector. This is a leadership role within a premier engineering organization that designs and delivers cutting-edge communications products for mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
  • People Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 7+ electrical engineers and interns.
  • Project Management: Lead electrical hardware management for a multi-channel radio portfolio, including integration, testing, and operations.
  • Financial Oversight: Handle project budgeting, financial reporting, and creation of ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) and BOE (Basis of Estimate).
  • Strategic Planning: Create and maintain project schedules, manage resources, and oversee technical baseline creation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Mechanical, Digital, RF, FPGA, DSP, and firmware teams to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Operational Support: Focus on improving product cost, quality, yield, and throughput during the transition from design to manufacturing.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of experience OR a Graduate Degree with 7+ years. (In lieu of a degree, 13+ years of relevant experience).
  • Management Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in Engineering Project Management or leading engineering teams.
  • Technical Background: Proven experience in New Product Development (NPD) specifically in RF, Digital, or PWBA capacities.
  • Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% if required.

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and complex scheduling.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (e.g., Agile) and Requirements Management software (e.g., DOORS).
  • Knowledge of DFX analysis for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the INCOSE V product development model.
