FIND is a 50+-year-old nonprofit headquartered in Pisgah Forest, NC whose mission is to provide all people with education, recreational and interpretive opportunities about natural resources and cultural history. FIND Outdoors serves over 800,000 visitors each year with over 150 educational and recreational programs, special events, and tours, and manages 15 recreations, education, and camping facilities in North Carolina, and Georgia. In addition, FIND offers our visitors forest- related gifts, education resources, and provides partnership opportunities for the health of our forests and the safety of our forest users on public and private lands.
About the Opportunity:
Retail Assistant

The role of the Retail Inventory Specialist will involve overseeing the ordering, storing, receiving, and distributing of all retail products and supplies. The position will be responsible for managing the flow of retail merchandise across all FIND-managed gift shops, while also tracking and analyzing inventory and developing protocols for minimizing loss. The role will require a high standard of customer service and will also involve managing employee and community relations. The Retail Inventory Specialist will serve as an ambassador to FIND.

Director of Retail

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Run inventory reports for the Pisgah Ranger Station and the Cradle of Forestry. Track report dates and use the inventory cheat sheet to prevent over-pulling.
  • Check inventory buckets before pulling reports, prepare merchandise for delivery, and ensure all transfers are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Deliver, unload, and properly stock merchandise at the Ranger Station and Cradle on the same day as delivery.
  • Take photos and notes of missing or needed merchandise and use this information to prepare future inventory pulls.
  • Collect and sign out Ranger Station deposits, return them to the office for the Finance Manager, and obtain change from the bank when needed.
  • Identify DNO/NLA items for clearance, coordinate placement and timing with the Director of Retail, and properly mark clearance merchandise.
  • Work with the Director of Retail to determine where new merchandise should be placed and maintain an organized stockroom.
  • Perform random inventory checks to identify shortages and prepare needed merchandise for the next stocking trip.
  • Fill in at the Ranger Station or Cradle when employees are absent or additional help is needed.
  • Travel for inventory assignments and be available for occasional overnight travel when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in retail, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet scheduled delivery and stocking deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory, point-of-sale, or other retail systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between retail locations and occasionally stay overnight for work-related assignments.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry merchandise and perform physical tasks associated with deliveries and inventory work.
