How You Will Make an Impact
As a key member of the Operations Finance team, you will act as a strategic business partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations leadership. This role has a strong emphasis on cost accounting, standard cost accuracy, and operational performance analysis within a manufacturing environment.
You will play a critical role in reviewing and maintaining standard costs, including detailed analysis of Bills of Material (BOM), labor routings, and overhead absorption to ensure cost accuracy and financial transparency. In close partnership with Operations and Supply Chain, you will provide financial insights through detailed spend and cost reporting that help leaders understand factory performance and drive achievement of operational and financial targets.
This role is well suited for a hands-on operational finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, can manage multiple priorities effectively, and consistently delivers high-quality, actionable financial insights.
This position must be on-site five days per week at our Middletown, VA facility located at 8365 Valley Pike.
What You Will Do
  • Lead monthly close activities related to manufacturing, including inventory, cost of goods sold, variances, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review, validate, and maintain standard costs, including BOM structures, labor routings, and overhead rates.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (purchase price, usage, labor, overhead, scrap, yield) and partner with operations to drive corrective actions.
  • Support annual standard cost roll and periodic cost updates within SAP.
  • Ensure integrity of inventory valuation and coordinate cycle counts and fixed asset counts.
  • Analyze spending and explain key variances versus AOP and forecast.
  • Prepare weekly scrap and MUV reporting.
  • Support site-level forecasts, AOP development, and business reviews with clear operational insights.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and standardization of reporting and analytical processes.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with SOX, corporate policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives, special and ad-hoc operational projects.

How You Will Get Here
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

Experience
  • 4+ years of finance experience specifically within a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of direct product costing experience with an aligned skillset

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and manufacturing finance
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing Bills of Material (BOM) and production routings
  • Understanding of inventory accounting, absorption costing, and variance analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and consistent delivery of high-quality work
  • Advanced Excel skills required; SAP experience strongly preferred (Essbase, HFM a plus)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and solutions oriented
  • Continuous Improvement mindset with the ability to identify process gaps and implement enhancements
