The Graduate Programs Office in the College of Engineering (COE) is responsible for assisting Directors of Graduate Programs (and their Graduate Services Coordinators) with policies, requirements, and procedures of the Graduate School. We are charged with ensuring that all standards for accreditation are met, and with identifying new strategic opportunities, including international partnerships. Help (both financial and strategic) is given to departments to recruit new graduate students. Additionally, student appeals and requests are handled as needed.

We fund graduate students and provide support for activities and workshops that enhance and improve their education. We oversee graduate enrollment targets and admissions for the College of Engineering.

We provide support for activities and workshops that enhance the experience of post-doctoral researchers in the College of Engineering. We support post-doctoral researchers in professional development and employment issues. We promote and recognize the excellence of graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in our programs.

Essential Job Duties
The Manager of Graduate Student Recruiting is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic recruitment initiatives to attract high-quality graduate students to the College of Engineering (COE) at North Carolina State University. This role involves collaborating with departments, administrators, the graduate school and external partners to increase applications and improve enrollment outcomes for our 19 master's and 11 doctoral programs. The manager will leverage data-driven strategies, digital marketing, and relationship-building efforts to expand the College's visibility and competitiveness on a national and international scale.
Key Responsibilities:
35% - Recruitment Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-informed recruitment strategy aligned with the COE's graduate enrollment goals.
  • Track, analyze, and report on enrollment trends, application data, and recruitment efforts to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategies.
  • Identify and target key markets, institutions, and demographics to increase applications from varied, high-caliber candidates.
15% - Data-Driven Recommendations
  • Provide recommendations for improving recruitment outcomes based on data insights and best practices.
25% - Marketing and Communications
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to highlight program strengths and unique opportunities.
  • Leverage digital marketing, social media, email campaigns, and virtual events to engage prospective students.
  • Collaborate with the COE's marketing and communications team to enhance the online presence and visibility of graduate programs.
25% - Recruitment Travel and Partnerships
  • Plan and execute recruitment travel to universities, conferences, and professional organizations domestically and internationally.
  • Develop partnerships with undergraduate institutions to strengthen the College's recruitment pipeline.
Other Responsibilities

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., higher education administration, engineering, business, marketing, or communications).

Other Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in graduate student recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with varied stakeholders.
  • Experience using data analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., higher education administration, engineering, business, marketing, or communications).
  • Experience in graduate student recruitment in STEM or engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of international recruitment strategies for international students.
  • Experience working with marketing, communications, and digital outreach strategies.
  • Familiarity with best practices in graduate education and enrollment trends.
