What is a financial analyst associate?

Financial Analyst Associates are entry- to mid-level professionals who support senior analysts and management by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial data to help guide business decisions. They typically work in banks, investment firms, or corporate finance departments, preparing reports, forecasting trends, and evaluating financial performance. Their insights help organizations manage budgets, assess risks, and identify opportunities for growth. This role is often a stepping stone to more senior financial analyst or management positions.

What are some common challenges financial analyst associates face when managing multiple projects simultaneously?

Financial Analyst Associates often juggle several projects, such as preparing reports, building financial models, and supporting budgeting processes. One challenge is balancing tight deadlines from different internal stakeholders while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in their analyses. Effective time management and prioritization skills are essential to meet expectations and deliver quality work. Collaborating with team members and proactively seeking clarification from managers can help navigate competing priorities and maintain a manageable workload.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a financial analyst associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Analyst Associate, you need strong analytical skills, a solid grasp of accounting and finance principles, and typically a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Proficiency with financial modeling, Microsoft Excel, and tools like Bloomberg Terminal or SAP is highly valued, as is familiarity with data visualization software. Exceptional attention to detail, communication abilities, and problem-solving skills set top performers apart. These competencies enable accurate analysis, effective decision-making support, and clear communication of financial insights to stakeholders.

Full-time

Job description

Voted one of INC.'s Fastest Growing Companies and a Best Place to Work for three consecutive years, IndeVetsโ„ข is on a mission to bring balance, fulfillment, and joy to veterinary medicine.

Our Mission: To revolutionize veterinary staffing by creating meaningful, sustainable careers for veterinarians while delivering exceptional, reliable talent to the hospitals that need them most.

Why IndeVets: We're a fast-growing, values-driven company reshaping how veterinary medicine works โ€” and we're just getting started. If you want to do work that matters alongside people who care deeply about quality medicine and doctor well-being, you'll fit right in here.

IndeVets is looking for a high-potential Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate FP&A team. Reporting to the Director of FP&A with direct exposure to the CFO, this role sits at the intersection of financial modeling, business analysis, and executive communication. Youโ€™ll help leadership understand whatโ€™s driving performance, evaluate opportunities and risks, and translate complex data into decisions that move the business forward.

  • Own the financial models that power annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting with clear variance analysis and business performance insights
  • Partner with the Director of FP&A and CFO to prepare Board materials, executive presentations, and strategic analyses
  • Analyze operational and financial trends across markets and business initiatives to surface actionable recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to translate business intelligence tools into meaningful performance visibility for leadership
  • Leverage a variety of AI analytical tools to derive insights and key performance indicators for key stakeholders

Youโ€™ll Thrive in This Role If You Haveโ€ฆ
  • Comfort owning an analytical process from blank spreadsheet to executive presentation, with no one handing you a template
  • Experience working in lean, fast-moving teams where youโ€™re expected to ask the right questions and move without waiting for direction
  • Genuine curiosity about how businesses operate, you dig into the numbers because you want to understand whatโ€™s actually driving performance, not just report it
  • The ability to shift between deep-focus modeling work and clear, concise communication with senior leaders in the same day
  • A bias toward clarity: when the data is messy or the answer is uncertain, you say so clearly and frame the options rather than hiding behind ambiguity
  • An instinct to build things that last: you document your models, build in flexibility, and hand off processes that others can actually use

Weโ€™re Looking for Someone Who Embodies

  • Smart and purposeful: you approach every analysis with a clear question in mind and donโ€™t stop until you have an answer worth sharing with a room full of executives
  • Confident, not arrogant: youโ€™ll present your work directly to the CFO and own every number in the room
  • Approachable and collaborative: finance is a service function here, and you make it easy for business partners to work with you
  • Empathetic to the business: you understand that behind every metric is a team making real decisions, and your analysis should help them, not just satisfy a spreadsheet
  • Ownership mentality: if something is broken, off, or missing, you fix it and document the fix so it doesnโ€™t happen again

About Us
