What is a financial analysis internship?

A Financial Analysis Internship is a temporary position, typically for students or recent graduates, where individuals gain hands-on experience in analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and supporting financial decision-making in a business environment. Interns often work under the supervision of experienced financial analysts to learn skills such as data analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling. This internship provides valuable exposure to the finance industry, helps develop analytical and technical skills, and can serve as a stepping stone to a full-time career in finance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a financial analysis intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Analysis Intern, you need a solid grasp of finance and accounting principles, strong analytical abilities, and typically at least coursework towards a business or finance degree. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, financial modeling tools, and data analysis software is commonly expected. Attention to detail, effective communication, and a willingness to learn set standout interns apart in this role. These skills are crucial for accurately interpreting financial data, supporting business decisions, and contributing effectively to team projects.

  • Leverage AI tools to enhance financial analysis, identify trends, automate recurring tasks, and improve reporting efficiency.

  • Support the development and maintenance of customer pricing for direct import and direct ship business in collaboration with Sales and Commercial Business Development.

  • Maintain product and item data integrity, including item lookup tables and base price list updates, to ensure accurate information is available for Marketing, Sales, and customer quote generation.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales on pricing strategies and support the preparation of tailored pricing proposals as needed.

  • Respond to and resolve ad hoc data and system support requests from internal stakeholders; partner to IT to troubleshoot technical issues as needed.

  • Support bi-monthly data submissions to the Government Statistics Bureau.

  • Support PLM post-launch optimization, including refining workflows, identifying data quality issues, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts following go live.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
