October 1, 2026OpportunityAIMCo's Renewable Resources group is seeking a thoughtful and ambitious student to join the team in May 2027 for an eight-month term.
The Renewable Resources program comprises a global portfolio of land-centric, high-quality timberland and agricultural assets that are characterized by their low correlation to traditional asset classes, inflation-hedging qualities, and a strong match with client time horizons. Renewable resources assets serve to provide capital preservation, current yield, and real asset appreciation. The Renewable Resources program is concentrated in developed market countries with an opportunistic view on emerging market exposure. Flexibility is ingrained into the Renewable Resources mandate, which allows the team to maximize long-term value by optimizing portfolio assets between timberland, agriculture, and strategic investments along the value chain.

As a Student, Renewable Resources, you will work closely with investment professionals in the group on financial analysis at the project and portfolio level, monitoring performance of existing investments, undertaking due diligence on new investments and developing models and tools for conducting such analyses. Your attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to excellence in financial modelling, market research, and investment analysis will form the foundation of your contributions to AIMCo.
Note: This is an 8-month, full-time term from May 2027 through December 2027.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the analysis and execution of investment opportunities across a variety of renewable resource sectors and geographies
  • Assisting in the management of the due diligence process, building and working with complex financial models, investment structuring and financing
  • Developing recommendations and approval materials clearly outlining potential investment opportunities, including expected risks and returns, as well as detailed market and asset-level considerations
  • Monitoring current investments' financial and operating results
  • Participate in asset management initiatives for existing portfolio investments
  • Performing analysis detailing the state of the market for investments to aid and support senior investment professionals' understanding of market developments
  • Support the completion of global macro research projects to help inform future portfolio construction
  • Supporting the Renewable Resources team on projects to improve the dissemination and organization of information and other administrative endeavors
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Completion of second or third-year undergraduate studies in Finance/Quantitative fields (i.e. Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science)
  • Proven track record of outstanding academic achievement and performance
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment
  • High attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Exposure within corporate finance, or business development within renewable resources finance, private investments, project finance, agriculture or forestry is an asset
  • Interest in the pursuit of a professional designation (e.g. CFA, CPA, CAIA) is an asset
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn more about renewable resources is essential
  • Able to keep composed under pressure and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving experience are an asset
  • Strong technical skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present quantitative and qualitative topics to a wide audience clearly and compellingly, are required
  • Prior work-related or academic experience using Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Factset will be viewed favorably

Success at the end of your term will be determined by your ability to seek out learning opportunities and become involved in multiple projects, tasks, responsibilities, and investments. You will have developed an increased understanding of investment concepts and market knowledge and a new appreciation of finance and investment management. A student who goes above and beyond expectations will participate in multiple investment opportunities and add value to team projects and initiatives.
