Job description

Job Responsibilities The Financial Aid Coordinator serves as the college's lead School Certifying Official (SCO) for Veterans Educational Benefits. This SCO coordinates the administration of veterans' educational benefits programs, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, and supports veteran and military-affiliated students throughout the certification process. Key responsibilities include: Serve as the institution's lead School Certifying Official (SCO) for veterans' educational benefits programs.

Review student records and process enrollment certifications, adjustments, amendments, and terminations in accordance with VA requirements. Interpret and apply federal and state regulations related to veterans' educational benefits and coordinate benefits with financial aid programs. Reconcile VA tuition and fee payments, resolve discrepancies, and assist with audits, compliance reviews, and fiscal processes.

Advise students and provide guidance regarding benefits eligibility, application procedures, enrollment impacts, and related requirements. Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar, Business Office, Admissions, Information Technology, and academic departments to support compliance and efficient operations. Assist with process improvements, staff training, systems support, and operational coordination within Veterans Assistance.

Minimum and Additional Requirements This position requires a bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. Preferred Qualifications Relevant experience includes program coordination, student services, compliance, veterans services, financial aid, or higher education. Experience administering U.S

Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits programs within a college or university setting. Knowledge of VA educational benefits regulations, certification requirements, and compliance standards. Experience with enrollment certification, reconciliation processes, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Experience working with student information systems and federal or state aid systems. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulations, manage multiple priorities, and provide excellent customer service to students and stakeholders.
