Job description

JOB TITLE: Infusion Coordinator
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for financially securing patient accounts for all infusions, including verifying benefits, managing referrals, and notifying patients of appointments and balance due.
REPORTS TO: Imaging/Infusion Manager
RESPONSIBILIITES
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Monitors schedule, verifies benefits, and manages referrals/authorizations prior to day of appointment for all Infusion Services patients
  • Calculates and notifies patients of payments and outstanding balances due
  • Works with self-pay patients and patients with large outstanding balances to set up payment plans
  • Confirms appointments with patients
  • Collects and records accurate patient and insurance information according to the United Digestive, LLC Documentation Requirements
  • Accurately provides or counsels patients and/or relatives with pertinent information regarding payment for medical treatment or procedures
  • Has a strong knowledge and understanding of different insurance plans
  • Meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Answers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner
  • Completes requests for information from other UD staff promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accounts
  • Abides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient information
  • Participates in staff meetings as directed by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Participates in marketing activities as directed by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Cross trains and performs other office functions including phone triage, check-in/check-out, scheduling, pre-certification, or medical records as directed by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Account/billing follow-up for all Infusion Services patients
  • Assisting patients with financial aid programs such as RemiStart, Access One, etc
  • Assist with enrollment and maintenance of patients in the Touch Program for Tysabri
  • Any other duties and/or special projects as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required; Certified Medical Assistant preferred. 2-3 years of specialty healthcare experience, gastroenterology experience preferred.

Infusion Coordinator must be able to:
  • Possesses the ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect
  • Displays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitude
  • Possesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need help
  • Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Imaging/Infusion Manager
  • Work under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely manner
  • Interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment; travel within the Metro area required
