Job description

The SNY Internship Program offers a rewarding experience filled with infinite opportunities for growth both personally and professionally. We’re excited to invite driven students eager to learn to apply for Fall Internship Program positions and to join the SNY team.

  • All internship positions are onsite.
  • Our student internships offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.00, requiring a minimum commitment of 21 hours weekly. Our Fall internship program runs from: September through December.

Eligibility Requirements:

    1. Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship.
    2. Current class standing of rising junior or above.
    3. Applicants should demonstrate relevant competencies and capabilities aligned with the role.

The Accounting Intern will collaborate closely with the Accounting Department to gain insight into the purchasing and procurement cycle, as well as familiarize themselves with the employee expense reimbursement process and policies. You will work alongside the Accounting Team to complete a daily and weekly ad hoc project, which may include vendor payment reconciliations, expense account analysis, and other tasks based on departmental needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Accounting Department by assisting with day-to-day tasks and activities.
  • Assist in Accounts Payable and purchasing functions, including processing invoices, purchase orders, and effectively managing vendor relationships.
  • Address vendor inquiries and conduct thorough research to resolve payment discrepancies, thereby maintaining accurate account balances.
  • Assist in tracking costs associated with Mets game production, depending on the season of internship, to support budgeting and financial analysis efforts.
  • Conduct ad hoc account analysis of various expense accounts.

  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data effectively and derive meaningful insights to inform decision-making processes and support organizational goals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Excel, SAP or similar accounting software.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: The capability to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in financial data and processes, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
