What You'll Be Doing
The Accounting Associate II position involves technical, fiscal, clerical and customer service work for the Finance Operations Division within the Department of Finance, including billing, collecting and recording payments for Town taxes, fees and services. Under direct supervision of the Finance Operations Supervisor, work involves responsibility for processing, calculating, verifying and recording accounts receivables.
This is a customer facing position that provides assistance to both internal and external customers and regularly interacts with the public at the Finance front counter, by phone, and by email.
Work Hours
This position provides Front Counter coverage. Coverage hours will alternate between: 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Required Qualifications
  • HS/GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience in tax assessment financial management or in an accounting setting.
  • Proficient use of an automated accounting system
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Local government experience.
  • Experience with Virginia personal and business property tax laws, policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Munis.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Associates Degree in business administration or accounting.
