Job description


BAE Systems is seeking a Director II, ERP & Finance Services (IT Service Owner) to lead the strategic direction, implementation excellence, and operational governance of the company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) and financial systems landscape. This senior technology executive will shape and drive the long-term ERP strategy, influence cross-functional transformation, and ensure the successful delivery, sustainment, and modernization of core financial platforms that power the enterprise.
This role functions as the enterprise leader for ERP and Finance technology capabilities, serving as the primary strategist, architect, and executive owner for major ERP programs including SAP, Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, and related finance ecosystem technologies. The ideal candidate brings a blend of product ownership, enterprise architecture, program leadership, financial systems expertise, and an executive presence capable of influencing decisions across the matrix.
You will partner closely with senior business executives, Finance leadership, enterprise transformation partners, and technology stakeholders to drive process modernization, financial system integrity, and digital transformation aligned with corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define and own the enterprise ERP and Finance Systems Strategy, including long-range planning, platform modernization, financial transformation initiatives, and alignment with corporate priorities.
  • Lead major ERP rollouts and implementations (e.g., SAP, Deltek Costpoint, Oracle), guiding all aspects of program governance, delivery quality, business alignment, and go-live readiness.
  • Drive end-to-end business process transformation, partnering with Finance, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other stakeholders to harmonize processes, simplify workflows, and ensure consistent enterprise execution.
  • Establish and manage strategic and operational governance frameworks to ensure system reliability, security, performance, and compliance across the ERP and Finance ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap for enterprise systems, ensuring investments support scalability, modernization, integration, and value creation.
  • Oversee the support and sustainment model for ERP and Finance platforms, ensuring timely incident resolution, release management, and continuous improvement.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing talent, fostering technical excellence, domain expertise, and a strong bench of ERP and Finance technology leaders.
  • Serve as an executive-level influencer, articulating both technical and non-technical concepts to senior leaders, boards, and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive decision-making across a matrixed environment, influencing without direct authority and aligning disparate stakeholder groups toward common outcomes.
  • Partner with engineering, software development, and program management teams, ensuring technical quality, integration rigor, and scalable system design.
  • Ensure financial systems integrity, including data quality, reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and alignment to regulatory and internal control requirements.

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance/Accounting Technology, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree strongly preferred. Or equivalent experince.
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive leadership experience spanning ERP ownership, financial systems, enterprise architecture, program leadership, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ERP platforms such as SAP, Costpoint, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise systems.
  • Proven track record defining and executing ERP or Finance technology strategies in complex environments.
  • Experience leading cross-enterprise business process change associated with ERP implementations.
  • Strong background in software development, program management, or technical engineering leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage technical performance across cost, schedule, quality, and risk dimensions.
  • Experience developing talent, building organizational capability, and leading leaders.

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or similar highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives including AI, automation, analytics, and workflow modernization.
