Position Summary

Aptyx is seeking an Operations Finance Manager to serve as the primary financial business partner to the Chief Operating Officer. This highly visible role will drive financial and operational performance across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, and program management functions within a fast-paced medical device contract manufacturing environment.

The Operations Finance Manager will provide financial leadership, strategic analysis, and data-driven insights to support operational decision-making, improve profitability, optimize resource allocation, and support the company's growth objectives. The successful candidate will possess strong manufacturing finance expertise, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to influence senior leaders across multiple functions and sites.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership with the COO

  • Serve as the lead finance partner to the COO, providing financial insights and recommendations that drive operational strategy and execution.
  • Support the COO in developing and monitoring key operational objectives, growth initiatives, and performance improvement plans.
  • Lead financial analysis for strategic decisions involving capacity expansion, automation, footprint optimization, customer programs, and operational investments.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and presentations for leadership reviews, board meetings, and private equity stakeholders.
  • Translate operational metrics into financial outcomes and actionable recommendations.

Operations & Manufacturing Performance

  • Partner with site leaders to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, quality performance, and profitability.
  • Analyze labor utilization, throughput, OEE, scrap, yield, capacity utilization, and manufacturing variances.
  • Develop financial visibility into operational performance drivers across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate site-level financial performance against budget and operational targets.

Supply Chain & Working Capital Management

  • Partner with Site leadership to optimize inventory levels, procurement strategies, and material costs.
  • Drive initiatives to improve inventory turns, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and improve cash flow.
  • Analyze supplier cost trends and support sourcing decisions.
  • Monitor working capital performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Quantify financial impact and validate savings associated with improvement projects.
  • Establish financial accountability for operational improvement efforts.
  • Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout Operations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration required.

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience.
  • 5+ years supporting manufacturing operations in medical device, life sciences, healthcare manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing, CDMO, or highly regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior operational leaders.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, operational finance, and manufacturing economics.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling expertise.
  • ERP experience (Sage 100, Sage 50, Epicor, or equivalent).
  • Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs, standard costing, inventory accounting, and operational analytics.
  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated manufacturing and quality systems preferred.
