Job description

Build Your Finance Career at Birdi Systems

Birdi Systems, Inc. (BSI) is an award-winning systems engineering, systems integration, software development, and technology services company serving airports, transportation agencies, federal agencies, and other complex public-sector clients.

With approximately $50 million in annual revenue and an aggressive growth strategy, BSI is investing in the people, technology, and financial infrastructure needed to support its next stage of growth.

We are seeking a high-potential Finance & Business Operations Associate with 3+ years of professional experience, ideally with an MBA, Master's in Finance, or related advanced degree, to support FP&A, project finance, business operations, and strategic decision-making. This position offers broad exposure to FP&A, project finance, business operations, financial modeling, strategic planning, and executive decision support, with direct interaction with senior leadership.

This is an excellent opportunity for an MBA, Master's in Finance, or other advanced-degree professional who is analytical, intellectually curious, and ready to take on increasing responsibility.

The Opportunity

As a Finance & Business Operations Associate, you will help management understand and improve the financial and operational performance of the company. You will work across finance, project management, operations, and executive leadership, gaining exposure to how a growing engineering and technology company manages revenue, costs, profitability, cash flow, projects, contracts, and growth.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with numbers but also wants to understand the business behind the numbers.

What You'll Do

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and long-range planning
  • Build and maintain financial models, spreadsheets, dashboards, and management reports
  • Analyze revenue, costs, margins, cash flow, and project financial performance
  • Track project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, and cost-to-complete
  • Identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance
  • Support monthly financial reporting and executive management presentations
  • Assist with cash flow and working capital analysis
  • Work with project managers and operational leaders to understand business performance
  • Support financial analysis related to contracts, new business, and strategic initiatives
  • Research and analyze business issues to support management decision-making
  • Help improve financial processes, reporting, internal controls, and business systems
  • Support implementation and optimization of ERP, accounting, and business intelligence systems
  • Take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and capabilities grow

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional work experience following completion of your undergraduate degree
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies quickly
  • Professional maturity and comfort working with management and senior leadership

Preferred

  • MBA, Master's in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field
  • Experience in FP&A, corporate finance, financial analysis, consulting, investment banking, accounting, or business operations
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, or budgeting
  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems
  • Experience in project-based businesses, engineering, technology, construction, government contracting, or professional services
  • CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional credentials

Why This Role?

This is not a narrow financial reporting or accounting position. You will gain broad exposure to:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Corporate and project finance
  • Financial modeling and forecasting
  • Project profitability and cost management
  • Cash flow and working capital
  • Business intelligence and analytics
  • ERP and finance technology
  • Government contracting and project accounting
  • Strategic planning and operational improvement
  • Executive-level decision support

You will work directly with experienced business and technical leaders and see firsthand how financial decisions affect projects, operations, and company growth.

Career Growth

BSI is looking for professionals who want to grow with the company. As you demonstrate strong performance, the role can expand into progressively greater responsibility and leadership. For the right individual, there is a long-term opportunity to become part of BSI's executive leadership team.

Why Join Birdi Systems?

  • Direct exposure to senior leadership
  • Broad finance, strategy, and business operations experience
  • Opportunity to work on complex infrastructure, technology, and government projects
  • A growing company with significant opportunity for advancement
  • Performance-based career growth and increasing responsibility
  • The opportunity to help build financial systems and processes rather than simply maintain them

If you are an ambitious finance professional with strong analytical skills, meaningful professional experience, and an interest in developing into a broader finance and business leader, we want to hear from you.
