The Role
EnergyX is looking for a motivated Finance Director to support financial reporting and data analytics for the company's management team. You'll translate complex analyses into clear insights, have experience with project finance, and make actionable insights that help drive executive decision-making. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role at a company building something genuinely new. This role is ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy, has experience engaging with investors, and is eager to grow alongside a scaling business. This role will be heavily involved in project finance.
Responsibilities
• Financial Planning & Analysis
• Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans
• Own monthly tracking, including variance analysis of actuals against targets
• Produce insights and recommendations to optimize financial outcomes
• Partner with the CFO and the executive team to shape financial strategy and support key business decisions
• Reporting & Metrics
• Prepare analyses, KPIs, and dashboards for management and stakeholders
• Proactively identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern and present findings
clearly
• Identify areas for cost optimization
• Collaborate with business unit leaders to provide financial insights and
recommendations
• Develop reporting packages as required by external stakeholders, including
government agencies
• Fundraising Support
• Support fundraising activity for the company
• Lead financial modeling and analysis to support fundraising and capital allocation
• Assist in preparing investor communications and updates throughout fundraising
processes
• Leadership & Internal Collaboration
• Work closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Engineering, and Technology teams to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data
• Provide support during monthly/quarterly close processes, audits, and other financial activities
• Mentor junior finance team members, fostering a culture of rigor, accuracy and
continuous improvement
Requirements
• 3-5 years of experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) or a related field
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA optional
• Exceptional financial modeling skills with the ability to build and present dashboards
• Experience with investor interactions and fundraising processes
• Proficiency in Power BI and/or Tableau
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred
• CPA or CFA designation is a plus
• Background in a start-up, investment bank, Big-4 transaction services, private equity or other corporate finance role preferred
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate financial complexity into clear business insights
