Finance Graduate Program information

What is a Finance Graduate Program?

A Finance Graduate Program is a structured entry-level training scheme offered by companies, particularly in the finance industry, for recent university graduates. These programs typically last from one to three years and include rotations across different departments such as investment banking, risk management, and financial planning. Participants gain practical experience, mentorship, and formal training to prepare for future leadership roles within the organization. Upon completion, graduates are often considered for permanent positions based on their performance during the program.

What is the difference between Finance Graduate Program vs Financial Analyst?

The Finance Graduate Program is an entry-level, structured training initiative designed to develop future finance professionals, often including rotations across departments. In contrast, a Financial Analyst is a more specialized role focused on analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and supporting decision-making. While both roles require similar educational backgrounds, the program offers broader exposure, whereas the analyst role emphasizes analytical skills and experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Finance Graduate Program, and why are they important?

To excel in a Finance Graduate Program, you typically need a strong academic background in finance, accounting, or economics, supported by analytical and quantitative skills. Familiarity with financial modeling tools, Excel, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP is often required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and adaptability help candidates stand out in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These skills and qualifications are crucial for analyzing complex financial data, supporting business decisions, and progressing within competitive finance roles.

What types of projects and rotations can I expect during a Finance Graduate Program?

Most Finance Graduate Programs offer structured rotations across various departments such as financial planning and analysis, treasury, corporate accounting, and internal audit. This allows you to gain broad exposure to different financial functions and understand how they interconnect within the organization. You'll often work on real-world projects, including budget forecasting, financial reporting, and strategic initiatives, while collaborating closely with experienced finance professionals. These rotations help you develop a well-rounded skill set and identify areas where you may want to specialize as your career progresses.

Job description

Risk Management Advisor (College Graduate Program)

$73,000+ Year-1 Target Earnings | $48,000 Base + 50% Commission on New Businessย

Full-time | In-Office | Dallas, TX

Start your career building a professional network and growing a book of business advising clients on insurance and risk management.

You'll be mentored by experienced advisors who will help you learn how to build a successful career in the industry.

This is not a typical entry-level job. As a Risk Management Advisor, you will build relationships with referral partners who connect you with potential clients who need insurance. Then you help those clients protect their homes, vehicles, and assets by recommending the right insurance coverage for their needs.

You'll start with a $48,000 base salary while building your pipeline, plus 50% commission on every new policy you sell.

Our Year-1 new business sales target is $50,000, which puts first-year advisors on pace for ~$73,000 total income including base salary. Top performers have earned significantly more than this in their first year.

Over time, the book of business you build begins generating renewal income, creating a long-term career where past work continues to pay you.

If you're competitive, relationship-driven, and motivated by building something of your own, keep reading.

What You'll Do

You will build a professional network and grow a book of business from the ground up while learning directly from successful advisors on our team.

What a typical week looks like:

  • Meet with realtors, mortgage brokers, and financial advisors to build referral partnerships
  • Introduce yourself to new referral partners and stay top-of-mind with existing partners
  • Advise prospective clients on insurance coverage for homes, autos, and personal assets
  • Help clients understand their risks and choose the right protection
  • Quote and sell insurance policies through our carrier partners
  • Follow up with clients and referral partners to build long-term relationships
  • Maintain organized pipeline activity and notes in our CRM

This is a relationship-driven sales role. Your success comes from building trust with referral partners who send you clients over time, and from happy clients who refer people they know.

Training & Mentorship

You won't be thrown into the deep end. New advisors complete a 4-week structured training program covering:

  • Insurance fundamentals
  • Sales and relationship development
  • Carrier products and quoting systems
  • Referral partner development strategies

After training you will:

  • Work closely with a Senior Risk Management Advisor mentor
  • Receive ongoing coaching and development
  • Have the support of our Sales Director to help you build and execute your production plan

Our goal is to help you build a long-term career and book of business.

Benefits

Compensation & Career Path

This role is designed to help you build a long-term book of business.

Starting compensation:

  • $48,000 base salary
  • 50% commission on new business you produce
  • Year-1 production goal: $50,000 new business
  • Typical first-year earnings: ~$73,000+

As your book grows:

  • Clients continue renewing their policies with you.
  • Those renewals generate ongoing renewal commission income over time.

When renewal commissions on your book consistently exceed your base salary, you transition to Senior Risk Management Advisor and begin receiving those renewal commissions directly. You continue to receive 50% commission on all new customers' policies you bring in.

Senior advisors earn a significant portion of their income from the renewal book they've built. This creates a career where past production continues generating income year after year.
