Position Summary

The Commercial Finance Analyst Intern plays a critical role in supporting business decision-making through financial analysis, forecasting, and performance insights. This role partners closely with cross-functional internal teams (Sales, Operations, Marketing, and FP&A) to drive profitable growth, improve financial visibility, and enhance commercial performance.


Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Analyze revenue, margins, pricing, and cost structures to identify trends and opportunities
  • Provide variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast/prior periods) with actionable insights

Commercial Support

  • Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to evaluate pricing strategies, promotions, and profitability
  • Support business cases, deal structures, and investment decisions with financial modeling and ROI analysis
  • Monitor customer/channel performance and recommend improvements

Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare and deliver monthly/quarterly business performance reports
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to track commercial and financial performance

Internal Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial plans with business objectives
  • Support operational initiatives with financial evaluation and tracking
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on financial matters

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiency
  • Drive automation and standardization of financial reporting tools
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or business analysis or educational experience.
  • Experience supporting internal stakeholders in a corporate environment preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred
