Job description

Staff Accountant Accounts Payable Specialist Job description: Performs financial and cost accounting analysis of data. Utilizes a knowledge of the company’s financial accounting systems. Knows the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies, and procedures which includes some familiarity of other departments within the company. Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department. Areas of Responsibility: - Review, Process, and Payout travel expense reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage internal credit card program.
  • Maintain internal and external vendor accounts.
  • Perform account reconciliations for AP general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain complete bookkeeping for vendor invoices, customer invoices, payments, journal entries, correction entries, banking entries, month end entries, bank reconciliations, and amortization schedules.
  • Put fixed asset purchases into a depreciation schedule.
  • Update and maintain insurance policy amounts for prepaid schedule monthly entries.
  • Maintain ACH and Wire template information on banking sites.
  • Review daily banking reports and post all payments or journal entries required.
  • Assist with In-processing new employees with K2’s AP and Travel policies.
  • Preparation and distribution 1099s (and 1096) annually.
  • Cross train in all financial duties for backup purposes.
  • File quarterly tax filings with required states.
  • Close out fiscal period for AP section in month end closing.
  • Help maintain daily cash flow reports for financials.
  • Assist in all audit requests pertaining to Finance.
  • Assist with Fleet Card maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining or creating amortization schedules.
  • Maintain open communication with purchasing, travel coordinator, supervisors, employees, and HR to ensure accuracy of data or to assist with internal processes. Education and Background Requirements: - Associate degree in accounting or equivalent experience. Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • Detail oriented, good communication and team skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, Power Point, and QuickBooks/other accounting software. Additional experience and skills preferred: - Proven experience as a Staff Accountant Accounts Payable Clerk or similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • General understanding of accounting practices and principles
  • Basic understanding of how journal entries are recorded and link into records.
  • Basic understanding of allowable and unallowable costs
  • Ability to appropriately organize and file accounting records.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Requirements:
3 years (Required)
Direct accounting experience: 5 years (Preferred)
Familiar with government contracting regulations is a plus. Work Location:
