Position Overview

The Business Unit Controller oversees all financial activities within the Business Unit, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to support strategic decision-making. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining financial plans and policies, managing accounting practices, and safeguarding the integrity of fiscal records. Key responsibilities include preparing interim and final financial statements with detailed supporting schedules, conducting financial analyses of operations, and delivering insightful reports to guide management. The Controller plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial data, while providing proactive financial support to drive the Business Unit's operational success.ย

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES*:ย 

ย  ย Lead the development, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of financial and statistical data to evaluate operational performance, profitability, budget adherence, and overall fiscal health.
ย  ย Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes for the assigned business division, including calculation of COGS and rebate accruals, data validation and cleansing, reconciliations, expense analysis, and recognition of accounting entries.
ย  ย Define and implement key financial objectives and policies for the Business Unit. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing income, expenses, and earnings, with insights based on historical trends and future projections.
ย  ย Oversee the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and monthly forecasts. Maintain planning and control procedures, and analyze/report budget variances to support strategic decision-making.
ย  ย Monitor and report on financial performance metrics such as asset utilization (e.g., inventory turns, financial utilization, EVA) and operational efficiency indicators (e.g., AHR%, On Yard%).
ย  ย Provide timely and relevant internal financial reports, continuously improving their utility and efficiency. Present and discuss financial results with Business Unit Management and Leadership on a monthly or quarterly basis.
ย  ย Advise management on capital depreciation strategies and recommend operational adjustments to optimize financial outcomes.
ย  ย Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
