Job description

Description
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I - Filipino Language for the Fall 2026 Term. The successful candidate will teach Filipino language courses at any assigned level. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026.
Responsibilities include instruction at any assigned levels and active involvement in teamwork and program affairs. Appointment level will be 33%. This is a renewable one-term appointment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as the following: language pedagogy (in Hindi language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics. Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi and English is required.
Desired Qualifications
At least one year of experience teaching Filipino independently or worked as a teaching assistant at the college/university level in the US is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with contemporary second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, heritage/non-heritage teaching, curriculum development, and have typing skills in Filipino.

Applicants will be required to upload a letter of application, a statement of teaching philosophy, a current CV, and the names and email addresses for three people who have agreed to provide letters of recommendation. You will also have the option to upload self-developed teaching materials (such as a syllabus, a classroom activity, a quiz and an exam), evidence of teaching excellence, and to provide a link to a teaching demonstration video.
