POSITION SUMMARY
McCarthy Building Companies is looking for a self-motivated Party Chief an exciting project in Omaha, NE. In this role, you will perform and oversees all sit surveying duties and field crew. The ideal candidate possesses superior land surveying knowledge and prior experience managing surveying crews in large construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recognize and communicate hazards/danger zones to surveying crew
  • Plan and execute work with minimum supervision
  • Manage surveying crew activities on the field
  • Responsible for coding of labor hours (time keeping)
  • Perform construction lay out from electronic plans or files
  • Import and export information to and from data collector
  • Create as-builts, topographical, and boundary surveys
  • Perform land surveys and field stake-out (roads, bridges, buildings, and other properties)
  • Interpret electronic drawing systems, and shop drawings
  • Operate and set up surveying instruments (Trimble Robotic Total Station, etc.) for land surveying operations
  • Perform material calculations and take offs
  • Transfer grid lines and elevations from a set point
  • Train and mentor less experienced craft employees
  • Coordinate work with other trades
  • Accurately perform advanced field calculations and keep detailed field notes

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience working on new construction projects in commercial, civil, or marine environments
  • Must understand look ahead schedules and job sequences
  • Intermediate computer skills (AutoCAD, blue beam, excel)
  • Prior experience using Trimble Robotic Total Station with Trimble Access software
  • Proficient utilizing an engineer calculator
  • Understand construction terminology
  • Basic Mathematics skills
  • Must identify and utilize common construction materials, hand tools, and power tools (hammer, shovel, laser level, water pump, measuring tape, hammer drill, saw, demolition hammer, etc.)
  • Proven commitment to Safety
  • Work in an organized manner
  • Able to work night shifts when needed
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from the job site
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Must be self-motivated and can work well with others
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
  • Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
  • Minimum age 18+
  • Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization
