File Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a file manager?

To thrive as a File Manager, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of document management best practices, often supported by experience or training in records management. Familiarity with digital file management systems, cloud storage platforms, and database software is typically required. Excellent communication, discretion, and problem-solving abilities help a File Manager interact with staff and maintain confidentiality. These skills ensure efficient information retrieval, data security, and smooth workflow across the organization.

What is a file manager?

File Managers are software applications or tools that help users organize, manage, and navigate files and folders on a computer or other digital device. They enable users to perform tasks such as copying, moving, deleting, renaming, and searching for files efficiently. File Managers often provide a graphical user interface (GUI), making it easier to interact with the filesystem compared to command-line methods. Examples include Windows File Explorer, macOS Finder, and third-party programs like Total Commander.

What are some common challenges faced by file managers, and how can they be addressed?

File Managers often encounter challenges such as maintaining the accuracy and security of large volumes of records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and efficiently retrieving documents under tight deadlines. Addressing these challenges typically involves implementing clear organizational systems, staying updated on best practices for data management, and collaborating with IT and compliance teams. Regular training and adopting reliable file management software can also help File Managers stay organized and minimize errors.

Job description

About Myers

Myers Automotive Group is all about community. In Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, the people on our team are your friends and neighbours. Our kids go to school together, play sports together, and succeed together. We sit on parents’ councils, volunteer alongside you, and work to make good things happen. We sponsor local teams and charitable events because we are part of the communities we serve.

We stand behind a solid reputation built the “hard way”: by earning trust one relationship at a time, generation after generation. From our founder to Hank Mews in 1975, and then to his sons Harry and Rob in 2003, each leader of Myers Automotive Group has shown an unwavering commitment to the communities we call home. That dedication has fueled our growth into a family-owned automotive group with 18 dealerships and 3 CARSTAR collision centres, employing over 1,100 team members across Eastern Ontario.

As we proudly expand into Kingston, our values remain the same—local roots, meaningful relationships, and a long-term commitment to the people we serve.

Come join our team.

What you will do:

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience each and every time.
  • Exemplify a professional, friendly and effective manner while providing knowledgeable information to our clients.
  • Review all documentation pertaining to the sales agreement with every customer to ensure all information is correct.
  • Process credit approval and discuss with client.
  • Provide clients with a thorough explanation of extended warranties and aftermarket products.
  • Ensure all paperwork for vehicle sales and leases are completed in a timely manner with a strong attention to detail.
  • Explain to clients the manufacturer and dealership service procedures and policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the financial institutions, manufacturers; sources and manage alternative/competitive interest rates and finance programs.

  • Comply with all provincial and federal regulations for new and used vehicles and internal accounting department procedures.
  • Liaise and build strong relationships with all internal departments.
  • Establish and maintain a program which will ensure 100 percent turnover to the F&I department.
  • Provide ongoing training to the sales team highlighting the benefits of financing, insurance and extended service programs.

For this role, come equipped with:

  • Previous F&I experience with a proven track record.
  • OMVIC license.
  • Post-secondary education.

Please note: In addition to the base salary, Myers proudly offers its employees a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that features:

  • Career mobility
  • Flexible benefits
  • Paid leaves
  • Commission package (where applicable),
  • Good work/life balance
