Job description

Position Overview

Spectate Group, part of the Nicholas Family of Companies, is seeking a Figure Skating & Operations Manager to lead the Learn-to-Skate program and oversee facility programming and scheduling. This role is responsible for managing on-ice instructors and administrative staff, ensuring a high-quality participant experience, and fostering a culture of skill development, sportsmanship, and program excellence. The Figure Skating & Operations Manager also drives daily operations by maximizing facility utilization, supporting revenue growth, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring accurate scheduling and billing.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Learn-to-Skate program, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and developmentally appropriate experience for participants.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee seasonal Learn-to-Skate and figure skating programming, including class schedules, camps, clinics, ice shows, testing, and supplemental development opportunities.
  • Serve as a visible leader by engaging with participants, families, instructors, and staff to foster a positive, inclusive, and sportsmanship-focused culture.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused presence while ensuring a safe, respectful environment on and off the ice.
  • Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and supervise Learn-to-Skate instructors while establishing and enforcing instructional standards and expectations.
  • Conduct instructor meetings and provide ongoing coaching, training, and support to promote consistency and instructional excellence.
  • Coordinate participant testing, including scheduling and oversight of testing staff.
  • Collaborate with rink leadership to secure and manage ice time while supporting annual budgeting, revenue, and expense management for the Learn-to-Skate program.
  • Attend and present at Glacier staff meetings, as appropriate.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of facility programming and scheduling to maximize ice utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain the master schedule for facility programs, events, rentals, and leagues.
  • Identify opportunities to increase programming, optimize rental availability, and support revenue growth.
  • Monitor scheduling and financial performance, using data to improve operational efficiency and program performance.
  • Oversee the strategic growth and operational success of the Glacier Hockey Program, balancing participant development with financial performance.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of scheduling, billing, contracts, insurance documentation, and other operational records.
  • Supervise operations staff to ensure efficient event execution and an exceptional customer experience.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, fostering strong relationships through effective communication and collaboration.


Qualifications:

  • Experience leading Learn-to-Skate and/or figure skating programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience hiring, mentoring, and evaluating instructors.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate skill development and athlete progression.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with program planning, scheduling, budgeting, and operational oversight.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills with participants, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn recreation management software.
