Delta Defense

West Bend, WI • On-site

Full-time

Job description

At Delta Defense, Product Designers do more than create digital experiences. They help build the tools that serve responsible American gun owners and support a mission rooted in freedom, preparedness, and the right to self-defense.

The Product Designer partners closely with Product Managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to create intuitive, user-centered experiences across the USCCA product ecosystem. Embedded within product teams, this role translates user needs, business goals, and technical requirements into clear interaction models, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that move ideas from concept to delivery.

This role is for someone who sweats the small stuff, takes ownership, and understands that strong products are built through discipline, collaboration, and constant improvement. Product Designers shape how our products work and how users interact with them, leveraging our Figma design system and established UI standards to quickly produce mockups and prototypes that support engineering execution.

When new patterns or interfaces are needed, the Product Designer collaborates with the UX Strategist to refine experience direction and partners with Marketing Creative to transition work into high-fidelity UI aligned with brand and visual standards. While the UX Strategist leads experience strategy and research direction, the Product Designer owns interaction execution within product teams using pre-configured, brand-approved components.

This role contributes to meaningful work across internal employee systems, member experiences, partner platforms, and digital sales products. For a designer who wants to do mission-driven work in a freedom-loving, high-standard culture, this is an opportunity to help build products that matter.

The work you’ll do:

Product Experience Design

  • Design user-centered product experiences including interaction flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Translate product requirements and user insights into intuitive interaction models and usable product interfaces.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, experience diagrams, and product mockups that clearly communicate functionality to engineering teams.
  • Develop interactive prototypes to validate product behavior and interaction patterns before development.
  • Conduct or support usability testing and lightweight user research to validate design decisions and inform interaction models.

Embedded Product Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers to translate product goals and requirements into user-centered product designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure experience designs align with technical feasibility and platform constraints.
  • Participate in product team ceremonies including discovery sessions, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and design reviews.
  • Support product teams in framing and refining features to ensure clear user interaction models before development begins.

Design System Adoption & UI Collaboration

  • Leverage the organization’s Figma design system and UI standards to efficiently design product interfaces.
  • Apply existing design system components and patterns to accelerate product delivery.
  • Identify opportunities where new UI patterns may be required and collaborate with the Creative team to define final visual design.
  • Ensure product experiences maintain consistency with established brand and UI standards.

Discovery Support

  • Collaborate with the UX Strategist during discovery activities such as journey mapping, usability reviews, and experience definition.
  • Contribute design perspectives to early-stage product discovery and feature scoping.
  • Help translate discovery insights into product experience flows and interaction models.

Documentation & Design Communication

  • Clearly document interaction patterns, flows, and product behaviors to support engineering implementation.
  • Present design solutions to product teams and stakeholders, explaining the rationale behind experience decisions.
  • Ensure design work reduces ambiguity and improves development efficiency.

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Psychology, Human Factors, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience designing digital products for web or mobile platforms.
  • Portfolio of shipped product work, with examples of wireframes, user flows, interaction patterns, and prototypes that demonstrate your design process and impact.
  • Strong experience creating interaction flows, wireframes, and product prototypes.
  • Proficiency with Figma and modern product design workflows.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability practices, and interaction design patterns.
  • Experience working within established design systems and reusable UI component libraries.
  • Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and collaborate with technical teams.
  • Can effectively collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other partners to move work from concept through delivery.
  • Hands-on contributor in Agile or iterative product development environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex requirements into simple user experiences.
  • Demonstrates the Core Values of Delta Defense, LLC
