Urban Legend

Job description

About Urban Legend
Urban Legend is a platform that empowers creators to promote issues that matter to them. We eliminate the hassle of traditional brand deals and give creators control over the issues they promote and the content they post.
Organizations with powerful ideas are finding it harder than ever to break through and reach new audiences. Creators are seeking more opportunities to use their voice for positive change and get rewarded for the results they drive. Urban Legend brings together these mission-driven organizations and creators who have the credibility, passion, and audience relationships to spark meaningful engagement.
The Role
We're looking for a design-minded Product Manager to join our product team and report directly to the SVP, Product. You'll be active across the Urban Legend platform-creator experience, campaign management, advertiser tools, and analytics-managing the planning and execution of software projects from spec through release. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role. You'll write clear requirements, keep engineering unblocked, manage the backlog, and make sure what ships is strategically aligned and meets real user needs. What sets this role apart is a strong emphasis on design: you'll work closely in Figma, drive UX decisions, and bring visual and interaction design sensibility to everything you touch.
What You'll Do
  • Write clear PRDs with unambiguous requirements, acceptance criteria, and edge-case coverage for features across the platform.
  • Manage the backlog and delivery process: sprint planning, ticket grooming, bug triage, release notes, and QA plans.
  • Prototype in Figma-wireframes, user flows, and state diagrams-working alongside (or ahead of) designers and engineers.
  • Drive UX decisions: information architecture, interaction models, and interface copy that's clear, consistent, and on-brand.
  • Collaborate daily with engineering to scope work, resolve blockers, and ensure high-quality releases.
  • Translate business rules (e.g., results-based payouts, campaign eligibility, content attribution) into product logic and clear system requirements.
  • Participate in discovery activities: user interviews, creator feedback sessions, and usability tests to validate designs and surface new problems.
  • Define and track product metrics (activation, conversion, creator retention) in partnership with the Head of Product; instrument events and monitor dashboards.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Execution, Sales and Creator Success on workflows that span multiple teams.
  • Maintain and improve internal tooling and ops workflows to increase data integrity and team efficiency.
What We're Looking For
  • 2-4 years of product management or design/UX experience. Startup, marketplace, adtech or creator economy experience is a plus.
  • Strong visual design and UX sensibility. You notice when spacing is off, when a flow has unnecessary friction, or when a component doesn't follow the system.
  • Proficiency in Figma: you can create and iterate on wireframes, flows, and prototypes without waiting for a designer.
  • Solid understanding of how software is built. You can speak fluently with engineers about APIs, data models, and technical tradeoffs-even if you're not writing the code.
  • Sharp spec-writing skills. You can document requirements in a way that leaves little room for ambiguity.
  • Experience managing a backlog and shipping cadence in tools like Linear, Jira, or similar.
  • Familiarity with product analytics: defining events, building funnels, reading dashboards (Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar).
  • Clear, concise communicator across audiences-engineers, designers, executives, and external stakeholders.
  • Bias toward action. You'd rather ship and learn than plan forever.
  • A team player. This position is in-person in our Old Town, Alexandria office four days a week, with Fridays remote
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with bonus opportunities
  • Health benefits package
  • Unlimited PTO
