Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Embedded within the Legal Department, the International Trade Compliance team serves as the critical bridge between advanced engineering and global regulatory strategy. We are a fast-moving, mission-driven team focused on enabling speed-to-mission while maintaining the highest standards of export compliance. By leveraging modern tools, data analytics, and deep technical expertise, we collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and business leaders to navigate complex trade controls and rapidly deliver transformative defense capabilities to warfighters and allies worldwide.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Senior International Trade Compliance Engineer at Anduril Industries, you will serve as a recognized subject matter expert responsible for setting the strategic direction and execution of the company's jurisdiction and classification (J/C) program. In this role, you will bring deep expertise across export control regulations and related technical disciplines, applying your knowledge in creative, practical, and forward-thinking ways to shape and drive company goals. Your work will directly enable Anduril's mission to deliver cutting-edge defense technology to protect our warfighters and allies.
As a rapidly scaling defense technology company with expanding international partnerships, Anduril requires sophisticated export compliance engineering that enables speed-to-mission while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory adherence. You will leverage AI and data analytics to drive classification accuracy, lead transformative projects to increase consistency, surveillance, testing, efficiency, and compliance across global operations. You will address complex, high-stakes classification challenges by evaluating nuanced technical and regulatory factors, using conceptual thinking to guide outcomes that can shape the direction or success of a major area of the business.
You will report to the Deputy Head of Trade within Anduril's Legal Department and work out of our Costa Mesa, CA or Washington D.C. locations. You will serve as a recognized expert, offering thought leadership and contributing to high-impact, cross-functional initiatives. You will communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, and influence decisions across the business while collaborating with engineering, business development, government affairs, and operations teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Drive consistent export classification processes across global operations, developing classification decision rationale, heuristics, and methodology for various product types to improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Leverage AI and data analytics for rapid, risk-mitigated jurisdiction and classification determinations, driving continuous improvement in classification process capacity and accuracy.
  • Deploy and maintain J/C training curricula and robust methodologies to meet cost and performance metrics across the enterprise.
  • Oversee Anduril's J/C monitoring program, aligning businesses and expanding monitoring, testing, and reporting to provide greater insight for surveillance of the company's J/C program.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, including engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing, to obtain the information required to assign accurate classifications while maintaining organized records of supporting information.
  • Act as the company's J/C subject matter expert and engage senior business leaders to design strategies to minimize trade control restrictions while ensuring full compliance.
  • Assist with responses to government, customer, supplier, or partner inquiries and requests relating to export classifications.
  • Support investigations, internal and external audits, and other compliance initiatives as required.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members on classification methodology and regulatory interpretation as part of project work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in export classification, trade compliance engineering, or a closely related technical compliance discipline, with a recognized track record of significant influence in the field.
  • Deep expertise in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), with strong knowledge of classifications pertaining to aerospace systems, electronics, computers, encryption technology, and navigational hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to address complex, high-stakes challenges by evaluating nuanced and often intangible technical and regulatory factors.
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace systems and defense industry regulations.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
