What is a Figma Developer?

A Figma Developer is a professional who specializes in using Figma, a collaborative interface design tool, to create, prototype, and refine user interfaces for web and mobile applications. Figma Developers work closely with designers and front-end engineers to ensure design consistency and usability across digital products. Their expertise includes working with Figma's features, plugins, and sometimes integrating Figma assets with development workflows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Figma Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Figma Developer, you need a strong grasp of UI/UX design principles, proficiency in Figma, and a solid understanding of front-end development languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with design systems, prototyping tools, and version control platforms such as Git is typically required. Collaboration, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for translating design concepts into functional, user-friendly interfaces. These skills ensure high-quality, consistent digital products and smooth collaboration between design and development teams.

Software engineers at Figma typically earn a salary ranging from $100,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and role level. Compensation may also include stock options and benefits, especially for senior positions or specialized skills in UI/UX design and front-end development.

How does a Figma Developer typically collaborate with designers and other team members during a project?

A Figma Developer works closely with designers by translating design prototypes into interactive, production-ready components while ensuring the final product matches the intended user experience. They often participate in design handoff meetings, provide technical feedback, and use Figma's collaborative features to communicate changes and resolve questions in real time. Additionally, they may work alongside front-end developers, product managers, and QA specialists to ensure seamless integration of designs into the development workflow. This role requires strong communication skills and a proactive approach to addressing design and technical challenges.

Job description

Defining the role and ideal candidate

Sepire's looking for a person to delegate critical tasks, such as sales demos, platform strategy, managing offshore teams, code reviews, and UX design. We are focusing on enhancing UX, implementing industry-standard product management processes, and driving new features.

Core responsibilities

  • Run discovery calls and demos with prospects and customers.
  • Translate client needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and wireframes.
  • Own the product backlog, sprint planning, and release notes.
  • Review pull requests at a high level; flag architecture or security risks.
  • Guide the offshore team daily; unblock issues fast.
  • Define and track product KPIs and usage analytics.
  • Keep documentation, API specs, and UX prototypes current.

Must-have skills & experience

  • 5–8 years as a Product Manager or Product Owner on a B2B SaaS platform.
  • Comfortable reading code (C#, JavaScript, or similar) and discussing architecture.
  • Proven record of shipping multi-tenant features.
  • Strong wireframing/prototyping chops (Figma, Sketch, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on Agile/Scrum facilitation—backlog grooming, sprint reviews, retros.
  • Clear communicator with sales, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Can work U.S. morning hours to overlap with America/Chicago and offshore teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in print, direct mail, or compliance-driven industries.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in solutions engineering or pre-sales support.
  • Knowledge of secure data handling and SOC 2 / HIPAA requirements.

Attributes to Success

  • Comfort with uncertainty and a desire to be close to business problems
  • Desire to contribute individually, with the ability both to self-direct work and to collaborate with others on the technology team
  • Understanding of many technologies down to first principles, and a desire to add more to the list
  • Systems thinker - sees how features scale across tenants or apply in different scenarios
  • Bias for structured process but adapts when data is incomplete.
  • Comfortable making quick priority calls when client’s needs shift

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup-like environment
  • Comfortable reading code (C#, Angular/TypeScript, or similar) and discussing architecture.
  • Proven record of shipping multi‑tenant features.
  • Strong wireframing/prototyping chops (Figma, Sketch, or equivalent).
  • Hands‑on Agile/Scrum facilitation - backlog grooming, sprint reviews, retros.
  • Clear communicator with sales, engineers, and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in print, direct mail, or compliance‑driven industries (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and BitBucket CI/CD pipelines (nice to have).
