Job Title: Service Technician

Reports to: Assistant Manager, Field Services LTI
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Service Technician position is responsible for providing customer service and maintenance functions to Loram customers within a specific region. Maintaining unit uptime to customer expectations is critical to customer satisfaction, railroad fuel economy, and railroad's wheel/rail life.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Functional/Technical Skills
  • Service top of rail and gauge face lubricator units to specified guidelines.
  • Perform lubrication service program for railroad customers.
  • Uses logic and methods to solve problems to find effective solutions.
  • Understand and adhere to general railroad and Loram operating rules.

Managing and Measuring Work
  • Manage inventory held on maintenance vehicle through company processes.
  • Plans work based on length and task difficulty, develops schedules, and anticipates and adjusts for problems to meet objectives.
  • Able to work independently.

Written Communication
  • Process work orders and complete all necessary delivery tickets, warranty paperwork, and returns through approved company processes.
  • Proactive problem resolution

Customer Focus
  • Build customer and supplier relations for improved products and services.
  • Work with Sales Department to ensure customer expectations are met.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: High School Diploma/ Equivalent
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain railroad safety training and certifications
Ability to obtain a CDL.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical
Experience: 1+ years of Field service experience with customer facing role
2+ years working in a railroad environment, Field service, and Basic computer skills
PREEMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments. Components may include DOT Physical Exam, Regulated (DOT) DS/BAT, Human Performance Evaluation (HPE), and Audiogram.
  • Position requires successful completion of an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check as required by Loram's railroad customers. Ongoing eligibility is subject to compliance with eRailSafe standards
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted upon hire and annually thereafter in accordance with Loram's Driving Policy
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Compensation:
